Though Blizzard has taken that feedback on board, fans are still skeptical about the company's apparent love for in-game purchases, and their inclusion in Diablo 4 is getting fans a little worried. However, Diablo Immortal's approach to monetization was unanimously criticized and defined as predatory given the abysmal odds and the prices. When Diablo Immortal released last year it was generally very well received by both fans and critics when it came to the gameplay loop. A mainline sequel, Diablo 4 is set to introduce a slew of new mechanics and features to the iconic franchise, though one of its more divisive elements is its approach to in-game purchases and a new Battle Pass system. Announced all the way back in 2019, it's finally almost time for fans to get their hands on the next installment of Blizzard's isometric dungeon crawler series. 2023 is already looking pretty stacked when it comes to big video game releases, and Diablo 4 is one of the most anticipated games on the calendar.
